The rule
Overstable everything. Max weight. Beat-in plastic.
The wind doesn't care what your favorite disc is. It cares about mass, stability, and how easily it can push your disc off line.
Wind bag putter
Kastaplast Berg or Innova Rhyno.
Deep-rim overstable putters that don't flip in a headwind. Berg K1 is the Montana standard for a reason. Rhyno in Champion is the classic.
Wind bag approach
Discraft Zone. Always.
The Zone is the most-thrown wind approach for a reason. Z-Line for tour-level durability, ESP Soft for grip in cold. Learn a spike hyzer and you'll dial in 100 ft in any conditions.
Wind bag midrange
MVP Reactor or Discraft Buzzz OS.
Overstable midrange that holds line against a headwind. A regular Buzzz will get thrown around. Buzzz OS won't.
Wind bag fairway
Innova Firebird. Champion plastic. Max weight.
The Firebird has been the wind driver for 30 years and there's no sign of that changing. Champion plastic for durability, 173–175g for mass. Get a beat-in one and a fresh one — the beat-in Firebird flies straighter in wind than a fresh Firebird sometimes does.
Wind bag distance
Doomsday Chemtrail. Innova Destroyer.
Doomsday's Chemtrail is legendary for how it eats wind. Destroyer in Champion is the classic. Both max-weight. Both should be your only distance drivers on windy days.
Advanced move
Beat-in beats fresh in wind.
Fresh Champion plastic can be almost too stable for the strongest winds — it fades early instead of holding a controlled line. A broken-in Firebird or Destroyer often flies more predictable in real wind than a brand-new one.
