Gear guide

Versatility wins the Flathead Valley.

One afternoon can go from a wide-open lakefront hole to a tight alpine tunnel. No single bag philosophy wins here.

For mixed terrain

Midranges and control drivers first.

Discraft Buzzz, Innova Roc3, MVP Wave (midranges); Innova Teebird, Discraft Undertaker (fairways).

For alpine wooded holes

Straight-flying putters and approaches.

Innova Aviar, Discraft Luna, MVP Ion. Tunnel-shot ready.

For open lakefront distance

Understable-to-neutral distance drivers.

Innova Wraith, Discraft Zeus, MVP Motion.

Winter play

Softer plastic, bright stamps.

The Flathead Valley gets snowy. Pick your days, wear gloves, run softer plastic. Some players switch to bright-stamped discs — or true glow — to spot in snow.
