Winter Wizards Disc Golf League: A Top Tier Tradition

Winter Wizards Disc Golf League: A Top Tier Tradition

Sawyer Bracy

Hi everyone, Sawyer here, owner of Top Tier Disc Golf in Billings, Montana! I wanted to share a little bit about one of my favorite parts of the year—our Winter Wizards Disc Golf League.

Back in 2020, I took on a project that transformed winter disc golf in Billings. Pioneer Park was already a popular disc golf destination, but during the colder months, it lacked a complete 18-hole winter-friendly layout. That’s when I stepped in to design the Winter Course - Back 9, completing the Winter Course - 18 Hole Layout. The result? A challenging, fun, and winter-proof course that gives disc golfers a reason to keep throwing, no matter the season.

From this course, Winter Wizards was born. Running from November through February, the league brings together players of all levels for weekly rounds filled with friendly competition and community spirit. It’s not just about playing disc golf—it’s about embracing the unique challenges of winter play, from frosty mornings to snow-covered fairways.

The league wraps up with a PDGA-sanctioned C-tier finale, a must-play event for many in the local disc golf scene. With a cap of just 36 players, spots fill up fast—usually within days of registration opening. It’s a testament to the passion and dedication of our local disc golf community.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just curious about winter disc golf, Winter Wizards is the perfect way to stay active, improve your skills, and connect with others who love the sport as much as you do. Stop by the shop or check out our website for more details. Bundle up, grab your favorite discs, and we’ll see you on the course!

Stay warm,
Sawyer
